Katie's KeepersJune 2003 :: Mother of the Bride by Lynn Michaels As June is the traditional month for weddings, I thought this book only appropriate. What happens when the 19-year-old niece you've raised like a daughter announces that the boy you've just found her in bed with is her fiancee and is the nephew, raised like a son, of your favorite author? This is exactly what happens to Cydney "Uncle Cyd" Parrish. It doesn't help that when Angus Munroe shows up, she's speaking to the picture she has of him, torn from an old magazine, above her computer. He also ends up in the hospital because niece Bebe takes offense at his stance about the marriage and pops him one on the nose. Follow the family hijinks as Angus plans to derail the wedding, Cyd tries to remain sane, and the remaining family (Bebe's mother and Cyd's divorced parents) show up with their significant others du jour to help out. Discussion Questions: 1. Since Cydney is an aspiring writer, and Angus a New York Times best-selling author, if you could write any book that you wanted to, what would it be about? 2. If you were in Angus or Cyd's situations, would you draw up a plan to stop the wedding? What WOULD you do in their situations? 3. If you reached the success that Angus did, what would you do about any fame that came your way? 4. How many themes for the wedding were there? Did you have a favorite? 5. Do you think that Cydney handled Gwen's return well? 6. How would you have handled the situation with Georgette, Fletch, Gwen and their significant others? 7. What is/was your dream wedding? 8. At what point do you think Cydney showed the most growth as a character and how? 9. What do you think was the most significant growth moment for Angus and why? 10. What did you think of the townspeople of Crooked Possum? |
