Writing ResourcesWriting Classes There are many, many, many classes available to those interested in the craft of writing if they only knew where to look. Many universities and community colleges offer classes to the community. If you have one that is close to you, check out their schedule. The other option available to most writers are online classes. These are typically held via e-mail where the instructor will send out a lecture, and then there will be discussion on that topic for a specified period of time. These classes can be sponsored by educational institutions, writing organizations, and authors. You can probably find these most easily by going to a search engine like Google or Dogpile and using "writing" and "class" or "classes" as the search term. Most, if not all, writing classes are fee-based, so do your homework, and make sure that the topic and the price meet your needs. Examples of online classes: College of Felony and Intrigue (COFFIN) - Sponsored by the Kiss of Death (MRSRWA) Chapter of RWA. They offer two workshops per month, one on the craft of writing and one on a research topic. Hearts Through History Online Campus - Sponsored by the Hearts Through History Chapter of RWA. One class is offered per month focusing on a research or writing topic. Interactive Writing Classes - Offered by RITA-award winning author, Alicia Rasley. Romance Fiction University - Fee-based courses that cover a number of topics encountered during a writing career from crafting your story, querying editors and agents and promotion. |
